Old Whaling Church

One of the most memorable interiors I visited on Martha’s Vineyard. The church’s remarkable restoration brought back its original trompe l’oeil painted details, creating the illusion of elaborate classical architecture where there is no carved woodwork. The result is both grand and surprisingly serene. Tours are offered through the Vineyard Trust and provide a wonderful opportunity to learn about the building’s history and restoration.
